"Life"

Winning is sinning
But only in the beginning
A person's redemption
Only comes after repentance
Thought life was present
But hell is what you make it
Thought for awhile,
Our Lord has forsaken
Everything in this world has a price
Even my life
Took the wrong path for awhile
To see if Jesus is right
Leaving brother to kill brother
Over a grain of rice

Jesus is in prison
Cause that is where we find Him
Need I remind
Of a time when
Thrown to the lions
Dearly defiant kid
Alcohol in the hands of a minor
Losing focus
My chest open
The gun smoken
Can take my life at any moment
To be the chosen
Amongst the few
Money makes lonely people
Chill amongst you
Pay attention
Some stuff is really what it isn't
We're only living
This one life we're given
*Amen*

Walking in the Light by David

Since my arrest and subsequent sentencing I have lost everything but have gained so much more through Christ who came offering the gift of God's grace; the hope of salvation to all who love, trust, obey, and follow Him. Jail and prison is a fiery furnace; a breeding ground for anger and hate. A test of spiritual endurance for some and for others a virtual sinners paradise. We deceive ourselves if we think that we can grow spiritually and enjoy personal fellowship with Christ but continue to walk in darkness and our old evil ways. We must turn from (repent) our wicked ways and walk in the light as He is in the light. Grace, mercy, forgiveness, and love from the Father are made available to us by the Son. Christ gave Himself for us, that He might redeem and free us from every lawless deed. But we must be doers of His Word and not hearers only, surrendering to His will, denying self, and taking up our cross as we continue to travel His path daily. So that when Christ comes again we may be found in peace, blameless before men and without spot after enduring temptation. His Word warns that we are to be sober, vigilant, and walk circumspectly lest we excuse our sinful nature and refuse to confess our sins. I think of 1 Peter 5:8-10, recognizing that to be strengthened we have to endure suffering to be established. Therefore, wherever I am the Lord is with me. When I pray, He hears my words. Christ knows my heart and all my needs. Lord, You love me more that I deserve.

Does Your Anchor Hold? by Drew

"This hope {Jesus Christ} is like a firm steady anchor for our souls" (Hebrews 6:19). We must stay tied and securely anchored to the "Rock," that is Jesus Christ, in order not to spiritually drift or be sunk when we go through storms in our life. In real life when you are anchored off-shore in a boat you are wise to keep an "anchor watch" especially during the night. When darkness comes you must keep your eyes on shore to mark your position with fixed objects such as lights to determine if you are drifting or not. Today with all our technology there are features on a G.P.S that allow you to key in your position and "swing" of your boat while at anchor. If you drag the anchor and start to drift the G.P.S. will set off an alarm to alert you of the danger and warn you to check your anchor. In our life Christ is our anchor and the Holy Spirit is our G.P.S. warning system - "God's Positioning System." God's G.P.S. using the Bible as our map points us to the way home! I've been reading Heaven Your Real Home by Joni Erickson Tada. What an awesome book! God has truly touched that sister's life in such an amazing way to touch our lives! She puts heaven in a tangible imaginable light that really brings our "home" closer to the heart today, right now! As I say, "When you have hope in the future you have power in the present." A clear glimpse of heaven gives me that "glorious hope" to carry me through the storms of life.

Jesus Prays at Mount of Olives by David

Luke 22:39-44
Jesus went out to the
Garden one day.
The Mount of Olives,
He went there to pray.
His disciples followed close,
Oh how He loved them all.
He said to them
You should pray or into
Temptation you will fall.
Then He withdrew about
A stone's throw that day.
He said, ‘Father, if it is Your will,
Take this cup away.
Oh how He was in anguish
When the Angel came around.
Then His sweat turned to blood,
As the drops fell to the ground.

Dethroned by Jake

I'm writing to share something on my appeal which was denied. This has been a huge disappointment to me but...the Lord has used this to bring me to the Cross. Through this the Lord had dethroned me and my will and is now rightfully my King. Instead of forcing my will on God, begging Him to bless my plan, I have crucified self and my will so I can be in His will and on His plan which is already blessed. The Cross hurts! So I have been in a huge war, flesh versus spirit. Flesh says, "All is lost, oh woe is me." Spirit says, "He will never leave you or forsake you. Be strong. Do not fear. Be still and know that I am God." I want to hear Him so bad so I can receive His counsel, so I submit myself to His Lordship. Praise God! I do not know where He is leading me now but I am praying for His wisdom, His counsel, to be able to hear Him. Oh Lord, speak to my heart through Your Son, Word, and Spirit. Amen.

And the Lord heard my cry and answered through His Word and by the guiding ministry of His Spirit. I want to encourage you that Jesus is my everything. I not only hunger and thirst after Him, I need and desire Him like I need air to breath. The Lord has used this situation to show me so much. He is now showing me that I have to come to full surrender. He has asked me to surrender my thoughts and feelings, but most importantly my desires and my will. My desires for freedom were eclipsing Him. I pray that the Lord will make His desires my desires as I surrender my will to Him. I have had trouble hearing Him lately because I only wanted to hear from Him what I wanted to hear instead of hearing what He wanted to tell me. I allowed my desire for freedom to overpower His voice. Instead of seeking His will and His way I was just trying to make Him bless my will and my way. And as you know that does not work! But praise God He is patient, merciful, and loves me. He has shown me this and asked me to surrender all my plans, desires, and will and just trust Him. I need to listen for His direction through His Word and then be led by His Spirit to obey His will. His Word states, "I will guide you along the best pathway for your life" (Psalm 32:8). Amen.

God's Love by David

No it's not silver
No it's not gold
But it's given so freely
From the young to the old
It's not emeralds or rubies
Or precious pearls so round
This is worth much more,
And it knows no bounds
It's not sparkling diamonds
That were pressed in the coal
It knows no fear,
And it touches your soul
It doesn't have a price,
Though a mighty price was paid
It will last forever and
It will never fade
You can search down below,
You can search up above
But there's nothing in this world,
That can compare to God's love
