Trinity Evangelical Free Church
May 21st, 2019
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,
Greetings in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. One of the core values here at Trinity is equipping and disciplining young people to faithfully serve Jesus Christ. Our youth are growing up in a culture that openly rejects the truths of God and demands that young people follow. Now more than ever, the church has to fight for the next generation and provide a safe place for students to come and grow in the faith. Before I became a lead pastor, I was a youth pastor for over a decade, so I am personally invested in making sure this happens with our youth at Trinity Church.
Two years ago, we started a Jr. High and High School ministry by faith and hired Cree Ivey as a part time youth director through the summer. She started with five kids and the ministry quickly grew to over forty students! The need for youth ministry was evident and the harvest has been plentiful! The church decided to act by faith again and hire Cree full time as our Children’s Education Director. She agreed and for the last two years has done a wonderful job working with our youth and creating special events.
In the latter part of 2018 I challenged Cree to take the next step in her ministry by completing her college degree. She has two years of college through New Tribes Mission but stills needs to finish her undergrad work. In so doing, she will be better equipped to take on the various challenges that lie ahead in ministry. Through prayer and council, she agreed to step out by faith and has started Summer school at Lake Sumter and will finish up at a Bible college (like Moody Bible Institute). Her last day with us will be May 31st. Though we are going to miss her, we are confident that this is the right step. We were her first stop in ministry, not the last. The church is cheering her on and has generously agreed to pay for most of her associate degree at Lake Sumter. I ask that you pray for her and support her as she takes this big step.
This leaves our youth ministry at Trinity in transition. The church is fully committed to providing for our families and I am going to use the Summer to prepare a long-term vision for our youth (to be presented in the fall). Until then, we have used the last few months to pray and seek what God has for our youth this Summer. I reached out to my friend and fellow pastor at Northland Church in Eustis and asked Jeremy if we could point our youth to their active youth program this summer. Pastor Jeremy gladly accepted! We then met with their youth director, Nia, and we are excited to announce that we will be combining our youth ministry efforts! It has become very obvious that the Lord is providing for both churches. Northland has a great active youth program and Trinity has great facility resources but no leader – let’s join forces! They have graciously offered to have their youth program at our facility on Wednesday nights throughout the Summer. Two churches coming together to serve the community – Praise God!
Starting June 5th, Jr. and Sr. high age youth groups are going to meet through the summer with Northland Church on Wednesday nights from 5:30-8:00 pm. They will also be providing a special discipleship class on Wednesday mornings for students who want to go deeper and be leaders in their community. The Lord has provided! Nia is a godly leader who has a passion for discipleship, Northland Church is godly and a blessing to partner with, our students will not have to miss one week of youth group because of the way God set this up, Cree is living out her faith by example for our students by following the call that she preaches, and Trinity is going to continue to support and pour into the lives of our youth and their families. God is good and He is on the move in Eustis!
We are seeking God for the future and trusting that he will lead us in the direction he wants us to go. We want you to be assured that we are committed to providing a place for young people and their families. I am so grateful to partner with a Spirit-filled church who believes the same thing. Who knows where this will lead, but we know for sure God is leading. If you have any questions or would like more information on the youth group itself, please do not hesitate to call me. You are so important to us and we want to be available to you in any way we can. May God bless you and your family.
In His service,
